Voluntary Projects

The core of a voluntary project is the desire to change something in our own living environment. The topics are self-determined and varied: ecology, working with minorities and a commitment to marginalized social groups, co-determination at the university or improving the living conditions of young people are among the most frequent areas of engagement.

Support

Further training in project management, fundraising and communication promotes individual competence. Former fellows offer as mentors their experience to help successfully launch projects on the ground and fnd additional supporters – from public administration, local businesses, and civil society.

“Mentorship creates trust, the conviction
that we can achieve something. It helps
the mentees to make progress in their
engagement."
Catalina Ene (Onea)

Low Budget & Grassroot

Those who manage to combine personal and substantive goals strategically have laid a key groundstone for their own satisfaction and successful engagement. A project must have the chance to become "my personal project". It is also important to deal consciously with one’s personal resources, whether time, financial means, or support from others involved in the project. This is often not to be counted in money - take in-kind-contribution or personal involvement.

“We believe it is possible to mount
professional projects on a small budget. This is
a realistic platform for remaining active on the
local level after support has ended.”

Alona Karavai
