Here you receive the new edition of our newsletter, which aims to keep you regularly informed about all interesting events, seminars and current calls for applications of the Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg and its cooperation programs

Many of our activities start in spring. The first call for application you may find below, it comes from South Eastern Europe. We hope you enjoy reading the newsletter and are thankful for any feedback.

Calls for Applications

International Spring Schools in the Cooperation Program in South Eastern Europe "Balkans, let’s get up!"

Application to March 4th 2012, Language: English
Two one week International Spring Schools in Macedonia and Romania from 17. to 24. April, 2012 set the focus on the topics “ecology” and “civic activism”. They are open for participants from western Balkans as from Romania and Bulgaria.  Here participants discuss societal relevant topics, learn aspects of project management, meet with experts and develop their own project draft. German Language Internship in the Office of the Program Coordination in Berlin

Application to March 11th 2012, Language: German
There are three new opportunities for alumni with good German language skills to make an internship in the program coordination of the Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg: 1) From beginning of to end of October 2012, 2) From beginning of October 2012 to end of January 2013 and 3) From beginning of January to end of April 2013. Current Developments

Training for Facilitators

In order to implement the growing number of cooperation programs in the Russian Federation, in the Baltic Sea region, in Ukraine and Poland, in the Balkan region, in Moldova and the Caucasus, we continue the facilitator training of our alumni and young associates from our partner organizations. In the focus of the competence building are seminar facilitating and project mentoring. The formats in English and Russian language are the follow-up of the former Kolleg’s international two- or three-year train-the-trainer education and training for mentors. 20 facilitators have attended in January a one-week seminar in Berlin and are now looking forward to join the forthcoming seminars and mentoring of our fellows.

Cooperation Program in Caucasus Joint Civic Education

"Joint Civic Education" assembles from now on all activities in the Caucasus region in the field of active citizenship education of MitOst Association and Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg. "Joint Civic Education" combines five country programs and one regional cross-border program. The first supports grass-root initiatives of young adults, the later qualifies young professionals of the civil society sector. Together with the local partners "Joint Civic Education" will be implemented in cooperation with the the Berlin-based organization CRISP and the Georgian organization Iris Group. The program is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, the foundation Robert Bosch Stiftung, The Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation of The German Marshall Fund and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The call for application for one of the regional country programs or for the regional program will be announced by end of February on: www.joint-civic-education.net.

Cooperation Program in Perm Region "Civic Engagement Every Day"

After ending the sixth year of the program, we plan an evaluation and the development of a new concept of activities for our activities in the Perm region. There will be no call for participants for this year.

New Cooperation Program in Baltic Sea Region

We plan new cooperation program in Baltic Sea region together with the German-Russian Exchange St. Petersburg and the Latvian organisation ORBITA. The first seminar is planed for summer this year – we are looking forward to participants from the whole Baltic Sea region. The program language is English.

Russian Cooperation Program "Civil Society 2.0"

At present, six projects are being carried out in the frame of our program for the Russian Federation which is implemented togetzer with the "Institute for Civic Engagement" in Perm. Participants have been supported by an E-learning project meeting. The evaluation seminar will take place from April 18 to 22 in St. Petersburg.

Siberian Cooperation Program "From Idea to Engagement"

Participants of the program in Siberia are currently implementing 23 projects. At the beginning of April, they will meet in Tomsk for the evaluation seminar. At the same time, a new call for introductory seminars in next summer are in preparation. We will keep you informed about the call for participants.

Cooperation Program "Civic Engagement Workshop" - Ukraine, Poland and Belarus

Already for the fifth time we are going to start the program "Civic Engagement Workshop". Young people from Ukraine, Poland and - for the first time - from Belarus can apply in a few weeks for participation in the introductory seminars at the end of April / beginning of May 2012. In the meanwhile, a group of recently selected and highly motivated Alumni is getting prepared to accompany the participants as mentors.

Current Interns in the Program Coordination of the Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg

Currently, Aleksandra Jordanovska from Macedonia (until the end of February) and Nino Gvarjaladze (until the end of March) are supporting the team of the program coordination of the Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg in Berlin.

A Meeting Place for Active and Alumni: MitOst-Festival in Ruse (Bulgaria)

Save the date: The tenth MitOst-Festival is coming up from October 3 to 7, 2012 in the Bulgarian town Ruse on the Danube river. Coordinator for the Festival is Svetlana Kirova, alumna of the Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg. We keep you informed about all further preparations for the festival.

Carl Friedrich Goerdeler-Kolleg for Good Governance of the Robert Bosch Stiftung 2012

Application to March 12th 2012, Language: German
A three-week international professional development program for young executives from the public sector from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. Seminar on "Good governance" from September 8 to 29, 2012 in Warsaw and Berlin. More information www.goerdeler-kolleg.de.
